Don Bender, who graduated from Naperville Central High School, caught the entrepreneurial bug from his father, Marty Bender. They started a pig-roasting business.
The two are expanding the venture into Naperville retail stores, such as City Meat Market, Twisted Olive, Keller’s Farmstand and Casey’s Foods, with the April launch of their Double D BBQ Sauce.
“The sauce has a mellow, not too sweet taste with a light kick that can be enjoyed by the whole family,” Marty says. “It is great for dipping and gives a little zest to all grilled meats. Stop by the above Naperville stores, take home a bottle and slather some on!”
The bottle sells for about $4.99, varying slightly by store, and is also available online at www.ddpigroast.com for $5 for an 18-ounce bottle or $15 per gallon (shipping and handling additional).
DD Pig Roasts and Double D Special Events have served more than 60,000 people in the Chicago area since 2004 using their own barbecue sauce recipe.
